In 2005, Spencer & Marks incorporated to focus on the rapidly evolving world of web 2.0 technologies, social networking and location based experiences by releasing their first product, viaPlace.

Spencer & Marks have submitted a patent for a geospatial registry which would allow people to assign any information to a specific longitude and latitude location, in addition to a mobile device client that receives and displays the information on a user’s mobile device.

The viaPlace registry is similar to that of a traditional domain name registrar, where people can claim specific web addresses and URL identifier to a server location. However, our geospatial registry enables people to register a physical address or specific geographic location so that any form of information such as advertising, educational, entertainment, and historical, is immediately delivered to an end-user when are in a particular location.

The viaPlace client allows a user access to the information that is contained in the geospatial registrar database by using GPS technology to determine what coordinates you are located and check the registrar for associated information. The client has the ability for a user to register new places and add specific digital information to their current location.
